Denotation means when you say something (a word) you are talking about the literal meaning (dictionary definition), where as the connotation means the emotional or cultural meaning.

6.    The Hypodermic Needle Theory is the idea that media audiences passively believe and act upon what they read, see or hear in the media. To what extent do you think this is true or untrue? Give examples to support your answer.
I think this statement is true because the media gives people information on the news or celebrity juice or things that other people do. People who read this instantly believe that it is trendy or in style of this generation and they believe that they must do it as well. For example when 'the ice bucket challenge' was all over the internet and on media sites. People poured iced water on themselves and donated money to charity then nominated someone else to do so as well. This went on like a chain and by some time everyone was doing it.
